Successful Launch of the Cypress Police Foundation Booth at the Cypress Community Festival

The Cypress Police Foundation was incorporated in August 2010.  It is a 501(c) (3) non-profit public benefit corporation established to raise funds to support innovative programs, projects, and activities of the Cypress Police Department that improve public safety, decrease crime and make Cypress a safe place to live, work and visit.

In an effort to give greater visibility to the Foundation and its mission, the board decided to have a booth at the Cypress Festival held Saturday, July 26, 2014. The Cypress Festival is held every year at the Oak Knoll Park here in Cypress and about 30,000 people visit the festival.

Susan Garey with Warland Investments Company commented that the Foundation had a steady flow of people visiting the booth throughout the day, with lines of children waiting for a chance to spin the wheel. Part of the draw, was the toys that the Foundation was giving away to the children, courtesy of The Bandai Corporation. For the adults, the Foundation handed out grocery totes and pens.  The main object of having the booth was to educate the people, primarily Cypress residents, on the Foundation’s mission, in providing financial assistance to the Cypress Police Department. Literature was distributed about the Foundation, urging people to visit the website to learn more about the Cypress Police Foundation at”

The Foundation is governed by its Board of Directors presently composed of about 16 members, all of whom are business and civic leaders within Cypress and the surrounding communities. All of the board members participated by taking turns working the booth.

Matt Herrick with Southland Credit Union said: “The popularity and success of this booth surpassed our earlier expectations. It is likely that we will have such a booth every year at the Festival.”
